Biomedical Engineering at McMaster resides in the larger vision of innovation
and discovery at McMaster University.
McMaster is one of Canada’s leading research-intensive universities.
Named the Canadian Research University of the Year in 2004, the university’s
approach to learning is student-centred, problem-based, and
interdisciplinary. Nowhere is this approach more evident than
in the School of Biomedical Engineering.
The School is an expansion of the groundbreaking study and
research that is taking place today at McMaster in the areas
of health and life sciences, biotechnology and engineering.
The new School of Biomedical Engineering benefits directly from the collective
expertise and resources of the Faculty of Health Sciences (the Michael
G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University is the recipient
of the largest cash gift in Canadian history), the Faculty of Engineering
(one of the foremost engineering schools in North America), along with
numerous allied research centres and institutes.
